IN ENGLISCHER SPRACHE Two Stories from Suite 203 and 204 at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Director and UCLA alumnus Paul Schwind teams up with method trained actors Fenella A. Chudoba and Julian Schneider to bring some of Neil Simon's (The Odd Couple) American wit and charm onto the Viennese stage.
Welcome to Los Angeles! Disco's on the radio, the beaches glitter like celluloid, and dreams grow faster than orange trees. It's 1976, and times are a-changin'. Divorce rates are ramping up just like our freeways and feminism is front-page news. At the pink palace of the Beverly Hills Hotel, stars and tourists alike are checking in, carrying hopes, hangovers, or heartbreak. Behind every closed door, a private little play about love, life and the American dream, with a minibar attached: An Actress aching to win an Oscar, a Screenwriter in the midst of his second take on life, a Businesswoman fighting for her daughter, and a closeted Husband longing for companionship.
Beneath the poolside glamour, our stories are about something that never goes out of style: how we love, how we disappoint, and how we try again. Our character's choices still echo today, and Neil Simon's jokes still sting.
